Fructose generally is found as a natural ingredient in fruits and sugars (including honey), but it is found in such small amounts that the body does not store it as fat.
However, High Fructose Corn Syrup (also called corn sugar on labels now), which is processed to reach a specific 'sweetness'...
- is bad for you despite some researchers saying that there is not enough evidence
- the fructose is not all converted to glycogen (stored form of glucose in live; key energy source for body)
- a higher percent of fructose is converted to fat instead of broken down for energy use
