Princess Kaitlyn & Princess Madelyn's Kitchen: No Bake Cake Pops

Princess Kaitlyn & Princess Madelyn made no-bake cake pops with our fun babysitter.  They came in a kit.

Kaitlyn said that they tasted delicious.  The smell was enough for me to stay away.  The babysitter tried one and did not recommend them either.  Hence, a new plan formed...finding out how to make yummy tasting cake pops.

Princess Kaitlyn & Princess Madelyn's Kitchen: Banana Bread

The girls modeled my latest aprons and most fun to this point - Hello Kitty and Tinkerbell.

We had about five bananas that were close to spoiling, so we opted to make chocolate chip banana bread.  Clearly, the girls like chocolate!  This time we made silly combinations of fruit and bread.
Would you like lemon skittle bread?
Would you like blueberry golden graham bread?

Would you like strawberry cheese bread?

Would you like apple cinnamon bread?  Now I can get behind that one!

Would you like grapefruit milk bread?

After all of those possible combinations, we decided banana chocolate chip bread made the best choice for summer time.  The girls also wanted to make sure daddy would eat some.

We made seven mini-loaves.  I'm going to out daddy and tell you that he ate two when he got home.

They were a success!

Princess Kaitlyn & Princess Madelyn's Kitchen: Magic Aprons

I challenged my inner Martha Stewart and started sewing kid aprons.  The girls modeled and used the first two I made.  I thought they turned out pretty good.  I learn something each time I make one.

While baking kid favorite chocolate peanut butter M&M cookies, we discussed what our aprons would do if they were magic.

I love my goof balls!

The magic aprons would definitely get all of the ingredients out of the cupboard.

The magic aprons would measure ingredients exactly, but the girls would still pour.

The magic aprons would let the girls whisk super fast without spill.  Mommy makes them whisk slowly.

The magic apron would let Kaitlyn operate the stand mixer.

The magic apron would make sure the girls had all the raw cookie dough they wanted.  It would always taste good!

The magic apron would make the girls invisible so they would not get caught sneaking peanut butter chips.

Busted!

The magic apron would bake cookies in one minute instead of 15 minutes.

The magic apron would hide all the evidence of stealing chocolate chips.

The magic apron would help us make the best cookies EVER!

Princess Kaitlyn & Madelyn's Kitchen Makes a Comeback

Now that summer has arrived, I'm bringing back Princess Kaitlyn and Princess Madelyn's kitchen.  I don't have stories for the first two weeks, but my goal is simply to cook/bake with the girls once a week this summer for fun.

It was pretty hot the week summer break began, so we made yogurt popsicles using the blender.

Ingredients & Instructions
Vanilla yogurt
Strawberry blueberry yogurt
Frozen farm picked strawberries

- Just put everything in the blender and puree until ready to pour in popsicle molds.

During our first full week of summer break, the girls chose to make chocolate chip muffins.  This is a great recipe (will post later) because we make it in a large mixing bowl and the girls can help often.

My sous chefs getting ready to taste test.

After a delicious sample, I received the 'thumbs up' approval sign to bake our muffins.

I don't have pictures of the muffins because they were gobbled up pretty fast...

We look forward to sharing more of Princess Kaitlyn and Madelyn's Kitchen this summer!

Holidays Part II

Each holiday season we try to decorate a gingerbread house.  One evening while daddy was away on work travel, the girls and I got to work.

I'm not sure if the girls put more candy on the house or in their mouths...

This gingerbread house came with the Rudolph characters, including the Abominable Snow Monster.  The girls loved it!!

Oops, busted eating candy again.

Neighborhood Friend Dinner

We had some good friends from our neighborhood over for dinner in July.  For dessert, Kaitlyn and I decided to make our first dirt cake.  We bought a special bucket - only to be used for food, not sand and real dirt.  This was a great activity for Kaitlyn as she could do a lot of the work.

The dirt cake started with a layer of 'dirt' (crushed oreo's) with gummy worms followed by a layer of the 'mud' (pudding, cool whip, milk, etc.) and repeated.

Kaitlyn loved making the worms stick out of the top of the cake.

She finished it off with some dirt on top.

Graham really liked the dirt cake (next to Laura and Bob)!

Young at heart - Mr. Pat and Mrs. Karen enjoyed it too!
Kaitlyn said we have to make this again.

This is good mommy and Kaitlyn!
