Happy Halloween!

This Halloween we spent lots of time with friends having a wonderful, sugar filled day . Kaitlyn dressed as Rapunzel from Tangled and Madelyn dressed as a bumble bee.

Below are pictures from Kaitlyn's school parade and party.

Madelyn playing the computer with Logan. They were so cute together!

All the kids behaved so well! They waited patiently for their snacks and treats to celebrate Halloween.

Mommy channeled Martha Stewart and made iced cookies for the party. Boo!

Madelyn jumping on Kaitlyn while she's trying to rest. Kaitlyn has pretty much outgrown her naps, yet today, she took a solid hour nap before trick-or-treating.

Our table decorated for the fun evening ahead...

Dorthy joined Rapunzel for pizza before the festivities began.

Time for dinner!
Dorthy, Rapunzel and Aerial all eating salad and pizza anxiously awaiting the handfuls of candy they know will soon be theirs.

Silly time!!

Quick family picture.
Let's go trick-or-treating!

Poor Madely, her shoe kept falling off.

She thought it was pretty funny. It's too bad the pavement was so cold!

Princess Kaitlyn's Kitchen - It's all about the Pumpkin!

Princess Kaitlyn decided to grow a pumpkin patch next to the garden on the castle grounds. She planted seeds in the spring. Princess Kaitlyn used water from the magical lake to nourish the seeds everyday. The magical water helped the pumpkins grow luscious, plump, and round. By fall, Princess Kaitlyn had copious quantities of pumpkins in all shapes and sizes growing in her pumpkin patch. She decided to use some pumpkins for baking, some for cooking, some for decoration, and some for carving. Despite using pumpkins for all of these things, Princess Kaitlyn still had dozens of pumpkins left. She did not know what to do with them.

One day as Princess Kaitlyn visited the local store to buy some cinnamon, she overheard a group of children talking about a pumpkin shortage. They all acted very sad because the local pumpkin patch ran out of pumpkins. The kids would not have pumpkins to carve for Halloween. Princess Kaitlyn called on Copa her horse to come into town with the carriage. Princess Kaitlyn invited all the kids to her pumpkin patch and let them take two pumpkins home. Copa transported the kids back and forth until all the pumpkins disappeared. Princess Kaitlyn felt very good about helping out some new friends and sharing her pumpkins. She hoped to grow a pumpkin patch again next fall so she could invite them all back again. And this time, maybe have a Halloween party too.

In light of this story, the next month Princess Kaitlyn and her mommy will embark on pumpkin adventures in the kitchen. We've completed two so far. First, Princess Kaitlyn helped mommy make semi-homemade pumpkin bread to share with her new friends (actually her classmates) and she helped make fresh, moist, pumpkin spice muffins. Princess Kaitlyn requested that we try pumpkin cake or cupcakes next. After that, we might try a more savory dish like pumpkin soup.
Lately Madelyn has become a picky eater, so we were very happy that she enjoyed the pumpkin spice muffin.
Yum!

Is she Pebbles or what?

Our babysitter commented one day how Madelyn reminded her of Pebbles when I put her hair in a rubberband with a bow. As you can imagine, I was pretty excited when I found a Pebbles t-shirt for Madelyn.

Now, Madelyn typically pulls the bow and rubberband out of her hair, but on this particular day, she left her hair in and did Pebbles proud.

The picture of Madelyn on the ottoman is her showing off how proud she is that she crawled onto it all by herself.

Boo at the Zoo

We ventured out to Boo at the Zoo again this fall. Last year, daddy wore Madelyn in our baby carrier whereas this year, Madelyn wanted to be part of the fun and walk. Rapunzel and bumble bee did great. They came home happy with lots of candy and tired feet.

Getting ready for a picture. Madelyn is wondering what all this is about.

Kaitlyn is super excited for Boo at the Zoo!!

Madelyn thinks she can run free. Notice she has already taken off her bumble bee headband.

Time for trick-or-treating on the zoo trail.
Kaitlyn did a great job saying trick-or-treat loud enough for the volunteers to hear her. Kaitlyn was a little unsure about Scooby and Thelma, but she posed for a picture anyway.
Madelyn desparately want to eat the candy, so we kept her busy the entire time with a candy necklace. It was genius (and messy)!

Photo opp with Bert and Ernie!
The carousel goes backwards for Halloween. Kaitlyn loved it!
Madelyn seemed to like it to for her first ride. Happy Halloween from Kaitlyn and Madelyn!!
