Princess Kaitlyn's Kitchen - It's all about the Pumpkin!

Princess Kaitlyn decided to grow a pumpkin patch next to the garden on the castle grounds. She planted seeds in the spring. Princess Kaitlyn used water from the magical lake to nourish the seeds everyday. The magical water helped the pumpkins grow luscious, plump, and round. By fall, Princess Kaitlyn had copious quantities of pumpkins in all shapes and sizes growing in her pumpkin patch. She decided to use some pumpkins for baking, some for cooking, some for decoration, and some for carving. Despite using pumpkins for all of these things, Princess Kaitlyn still had dozens of pumpkins left. She did not know what to do with them.

One day as Princess Kaitlyn visited the local store to buy some cinnamon, she overheard a group of children talking about a pumpkin shortage. They all acted very sad because the local pumpkin patch ran out of pumpkins. The kids would not have pumpkins to carve for Halloween. Princess Kaitlyn called on Copa her horse to come into town with the carriage. Princess Kaitlyn invited all the kids to her pumpkin patch and let them take two pumpkins home. Copa transported the kids back and forth until all the pumpkins disappeared. Princess Kaitlyn felt very good about helping out some new friends and sharing her pumpkins. She hoped to grow a pumpkin patch again next fall so she could invite them all back again. And this time, maybe have a Halloween party too.

In light of this story, the next month Princess Kaitlyn and her mommy will embark on pumpkin adventures in the kitchen. We've completed two so far. First, Princess Kaitlyn helped mommy make semi-homemade pumpkin bread to share with her new friends (actually her classmates) and she helped make fresh, moist, pumpkin spice muffins. Princess Kaitlyn requested that we try pumpkin cake or cupcakes next. After that, we might try a more savory dish like pumpkin soup.
Lately Madelyn has become a picky eater, so we were very happy that she enjoyed the pumpkin spice muffin.
Yum!
